Empowering Women in Leadership, One Walk at a Time
As a new salon owner in my late 20s, I thought my years in the industry would prepare me for everything. I’ve worked in the industry since leaving school, but taking over the salon and managing a team of 3 stylists and 1 junior member of staff has been a whole new challenge. Add to that juggling my roles as a wife and mom, and there were days when I felt completely overwhelmed, struggling to balance all aspects of my life.
I had seen Pippa's posts on my local towns billboard, and was hesitant to get in touch but then with a little husband encouragement decided to send her a message and now I am so glad I did.
After 3 mentoring and reflection sessions, I’ve gained clarity on my role as a manager of my new business venture. I now feel confident setting goals for my team, and building trust through conversation. I’ve learned how to delegate effectively and nurture my staffs' creative talents.
I’ll admit that stepping into ownership of my salon came with moments of imposter syndrome, but Pippa helped me identify my strengths. We talked about making clear decisions for both the team and the business which had been floating around in my head for a while.
Finding my balance in work and life, I think the mentoring process has helped me. I’ve learned how to balance authority with being approachable, creating a positive work culture while still maintaining boundaries. At the same time, I feel more 'present' as they say, with my family, by knowing how to manage my time better.
During all of this, there was a surprising angle that I wasn't aware of. Pippa herself has a background in the industry from many years ago. That made her guidance even more relatable and inspiring. She truly understands the challenges we face and offers insights that feel grounded in real experience along with the bonus of walking in beautiful surroundings which were on my doorstep and I never know!
Thanks again Pippa.
I’ve never had a conversation like it with anyone before, and I’ve had millions as you can imagine hahaha - but this one was different on so many levels.
Starting a new role as a team leader has been both exciting and a bit overwhelming for me, so I decided to join Pippa's Wild Walk Mentoring for some guidance. Pippa made me feel completely at ease. Her warm and welcoming approach instantly settled my nerves, and I felt like I was in a safe space to share my challenges and thoughts.
The hour-long mentoring session, paired with an easy walk in Dunkeld, was a breath of fresh air - literally and figuratively! On our walk, I was lucky enough to spot a red squirrel, which was such an unexpected and joyful moment. It’s little experiences like this that make the sessions feel so unique and uplifting. Pippa has a natural way of listening and offering insightful suggestions without ever making me feel judged or rushed.
She’s incredibly supportive and creates an environment where I feel encouraged to reflect and grow. I’m genuinely excited to see how the next 5 week sessions will continue to help me develop my confidence and leadership skills. I couldn’t recommend Wild Walk Mentoring more highly - it’s already been such a positive and rewarding experience!
Today, I had a refreshing and invigorating experience with Pippa from Wild Walk Mentoring. As a Team Leader managing a team of five in a large business, I often find myself buried in daily pressures. After seeing Pippa's posts, I realised I needed a fresh perspective, a chance to step away from the usual routine and reconnect with my thoughts and goals. We had spoken about which type of walk to do as I was looking for no more than an hour. The walk was a little challenging, and I must admit, Pippa had described the walk as intermediate which did leave me a bit out of breath! But it turned out to be exactly what I needed.
There’s something truly magical about walking and talking outdoors. Listening to the chirping birds, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying the expansive views created a calming backdrop that made our conversation both uplifting and insightful. Pippa was an exceptional listener. She encouraged me to open up about my current situation and helped me explore ways to overcome challenges and seize new opportunities. The session wasn’t just a break from the norm, it was a catalyst for renewed energy and clarity in my leadership journey. I’m incredibly grateful for this experience.
It reminded me of the value of stepping outside, both literally and figuratively, to gain a clearer perspective on my work and personal challenges. For any leaders or managers looking for a little inspiration and a lot of clarity, I highly recommend giving Wild Walk Mentoring a try!
